Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Airfield principal civil engineer to be a key part of our well established aviation team. You will be based at our centrally located Croydon office, close to excellent transport links. 

Your main responsibility for this role will be to lead, coordinate and supervise the design of the civil elements of the airfield projects, covering grading, earthworks, drainage, trenching, underground encasement of utilities, pavements, etc.

Tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Analyse geotechnical and soil investigation information and request necessary tests
  • Lead geometric and grading design of Runways, Taxiways, Aprons, service roads, etc.
  • Lead storm water drainage and water management system design for airports
  • Work with the Civil BIM Manager to coordinate the design of civil works and infrastructure and generate 3D models for airfield projects
  • Coordinate design across multiple disciplines including pavement engineering, structural engineering, etc.
  • Produce and update adequate specifications for civil works
  • Develop feasible, logical and efficient work phasing proposals to carry out the construction works
  • Lead civil works design and design reviews covering all stages of design 
  • Engage and manage subconsultants for civil engineering designs
  • Elaborate Tender Documents and support clients during procurement processes for Airfield Civil Works
  • Prepare methodologies, design proposals, resources estimation, etc. for preparation of bids

You will be a Chartered Civil Engineer, with Proven leadership and management skills, able to perform the role of mentor, Supervising Civil Engineer or Delegated Engineer and committed to the learning and development of graduate and junior engineers.
